Eating is not merely a material pleasure. Eating well gives a spectacular joy to life and contributes immensely to goodwill. A delicious and fulfilling dish could lighten up even the darkest day. So, it is impossible to forget about all those big figures who basically inspire how we prepare food, eat, and even think That’s right, the Chefs!
Chefs are the people with such chef qualifications and skills that satisfy tummies with foods and providing a terrific moment of truth for all.
Chef Pieter Malan started his journey in the restaurant industry as a waiter at an early age of 12. His love for everything about the restaurant industry, its operation, the smile on a customer’s face was his biggest motivation in serving people. Seeing guests magical, emotions and expressions when experiencing my food, connects him to his guests and brings him great joy.
Chef Pieter studied at HTA School of Culinary Art in Johannesburg and did various apprenticeships with amazing chefs. For him, identifying mentors in the industry and allowing them to guide and shape him was his greatest joy. His passion to learn especially food and science was excellent and currently extremely fascinated with West African Food – its history, its influence and passion his to enhance it.
Pieter has held numerous positions- Executive Chef position at Ginelli’s in 2012 where we won numerous awards, Executive Chef in the 5-star Jatinga Country Lodge, first Executive Chef for the Berg en Dal Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park and later Group Executive Chef for the Group in the Kruger National Park.
In 2017, he opened his own restaurant, “The Blueprint”. In its first year of opening, he won one of South Africa’s most prestigious awards and was awarded an EAT OUT award for the best Bistro in Mpumalanga. Competing in the Reality TV Cooking Show in South Africa Kokkedoor where he was the youngest professional chef in the series, he won the third position. This opportunity opened doors for him into Radio and TV with his own shows on both platforms. His TV and Radio show was called Die PappaChef Show and ran for 6 seasons on both TV and Radio in Afrikaans, it was the first food TV and Radio simulcast with food in Africa. The Radio part of the show broadcasted on 21 Radio stations and the TV part on both social media and DSTV.
Currently the Group Executive Chef of Fiesta Royale Hotel & Fiesta Residences, he is super excited to join the team to bring his expertise to bear. His desire is simple – Make a difference, inspire, learn, adapt, and grow! And to put the Ghanaian Cuisine on a world stage!
Pieter belongs to some professional Memberships – The World Association of Chef Societies, Chain des Rottiseurs & The South African Chefs Association.
Married to Michelle his awesome wife and an extremely passionate teacher; they are blessed with 3 boys – Zion (5), Samuel (4) and Albertus (2) .
