Whether it’s a family dinner, a picnic or BBQ, we’re sure that by now you’re looking for some tasty new recipes to liven up the table. We can get so tired of the same old thing, so we have taken up the initiative to create a list of some tantalising new side dishes for you to try.
Watermelon Feta Salad
A strange yet beautiful combination, this recipe is super simple; you just need to cube your watermelon and feta and toss them in a bowl together.
Italian Pasta Salad
Who doesn’t love a good pasta salad? Cook your pasta of your choice, preferable al dente so that it doesn’t break easily. Chop up your olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and feta. Mix them all together and dress with some olive oil, lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.
Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Dressing
A twist on your favourite fruit salad, choose whichever fruits you prefer. Mix your honey and lime juice on the side and then drizzle over the cut fruits.
Spicy Black Bean Corn Salad
For this recipe, you can used canned black beans and corn, mix them together with some chopped chilli and cucumber and pineapple for a refreshing salad with a bite to it.
Loaded Potato Salad
This dish adds some more flavour to your traditional potato salad. Boil, peel and cut your potatoes, allow them to cool whilst you fry up some diced bacon, jalapeños and onions. Allow those to cool as well and then add them all to a bowl and add your mayonnaise. There you have the perfect side dish.
Green Summer Salad
An aesthetically pleasing salad to have as part of your spread. Use any lettuce of your choosing, chop up your cucumber, pickles, green pepper and green olives; mix all together or layer them in a bowl. Add some feta and a Greek dressing and you’re good to go.
Grilled Veggie Kebabs
A super simple but delicious way to eat your veggies, these are wonderful hot or cold. Cut up your peppers, onions and mushrooms into big chunks and layer them on a skewer. Brush with olive oil, add salt and pepper to taste and then pop on the grill until cooked.
Dill Cream Cheese Cucumber Boats
For this recipe it’s better to use mini cucumbers, cut them in half and hollow out the insides. Chop up your dill and add it to cream cheese in a bowl, mix well and then either spoon or pipe it into the hollowed-out cucumbers.
Beefy Baked Beans with Bacon
An easy to make and delicious twist on the much loved traditional baked beans. Add your tins of baked beans to a pot, add some beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, allow to simmer for 5 minutes while stirring, fry up some diced bacon and add it to the beans, allow to cook for another 2 minutes and then you’re ready to serve!
